Faces of Ardmore Roderick: Carlton Houston, Communications Specialist
At Ardmore Roderick, our people are at the center of everything we do. Faces of Ardmore Roderick highlights the individuals behind the work, sharing the experiences and perspectives that shape how we serve our clients and communities.
Carlton Houston is a Communications Specialist at Ardmore Roderick, where he supports executive communication and strategic messaging across the firm and for key clients. His work focuses on translating complex infrastructure projects into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with both internal teams and external audiences.
“My path into this space was nontraditional. I came from a media and communications background and was drawn to the scale and impact of infrastructure, where the work directly shapes how people move and connect.”
That perspective has allowed him to bring a unique lens to a highly technical field.
One of the most rewarding parts of his role has been creating space for others to share their stories. As the host of The Ground Crew podcast, Carlton has had the opportunity to connect with colleagues across the firm and highlight the depth of talent behind Ardmore Roderick’s work.
“It’s given me the chance to sit down with colleagues across the firm, ask thoughtful questions, and highlight the depth of talent and perspective behind the work we do.”
Much of Carlton’s work happens behind the scenes, shaping how stories are told before they are ever shared publicly.
“Most of the work isn’t visible- It happens in conversations, in timing decisions, and in helping shape clarity before something ever becomes public. Often, it’s about making sure what’s understood matches what was intended.”
Outside of Ardmore Roderick, Carlton is also an author. His first book, The Houston Negro Hospital: The Untold Legacy of Riverside General, tells the story of his grandparents and the founding of a hospital in Texas during the era of segregation. The book is set for release in time for the institution’s 100th anniversary on Juneteenth 2026, blending history with personal discovery.
