Ardmore Roderick Earns ACEC Illinois DBE Consultant Exceptional Service Award
Ardmore Roderick has been recognized by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC Illinois) with the DBE Consultant Exceptional Service Award for its work on Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) PTB 205-003, a contract supporting bridge and roadway improvement projects across Illinois.
“Our team takes great pride in being a trusted partner to our clients,” said Shawn Brodaski, PE, SE, Structural Department Head at Ardmore Roderick. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our transportation professionals and their commitment to delivering practical, high-quality solutions that help move important infrastructure projects forward.”
The award recognizes Ardmore Roderick’s commitment to delivering responsive engineering solutions, maintaining strong client partnerships, and successfully advancing transportation projects under accelerated schedules.
Through PTB 205-003, Ardmore Roderick provided Phase II engineering services for a variety of bridge and roadway improvement projects across the state. Work assignments were issued on an as-needed basis and often required expedited delivery, demanding close coordination between project teams, stakeholders, and IDOT staff.
Throughout the contract, Ardmore Roderick focused on identifying challenges early, coordinating across disciplines, and maintaining consistent communication to support project schedules and minimize disruptions to the traveling public. By proactively addressing design, permitting, and constructability considerations, the team helped position projects for successful delivery while reducing the need for additional support during construction.
Representative projects completed under the contract include:
47th Street over Dan Ryan Expressway (I-90/94), City of Chicago
Bridge deck overlay and joint replacement, structural concrete repairs, ADA improvements, and maintenance of traffic planning designed to maintain access to CTA transit services and bus routes during construction.
IL 21 (Milwaukee Avenue) over US 14 (Dempster Street), City of Niles
Bridge rehabilitation and ADA improvements that incorporated innovative design solutions to meet updated accessibility standards while preserving existing infrastructure and maintaining traffic flow along two heavily traveled corridors.
IL 173 (Rosecrans Road) over Unnamed Ditch, City of Zion
Replacement of an existing culvert structure, roadway shoulder improvements, drainage enhancements, guardrail installation, and implementation of a pilot Residential Driveway Temporary Signal system to support staged construction activities.
IL 53 over Grant Creek, Village of Elwood
Replacement of an aging culvert structure with a larger double-box culvert, including pavement reconstruction, drainage improvements, guardrail installation, and the incorporation of a soldier pile wall system that reduced construction impacts while enhancing long-term performance.
Beyond project delivery, Ardmore Roderick also contributed to advancing the engineering profession by participating in the ACEC-IDNR-USACE training program, which supports industry education and knowledge sharing across the transportation community.
This award reflects the expertise, dedication, and collaboration of Ardmore Roderick’s transportation professionals. Through proactive planning, technical excellence, and strong client partnerships, our teams continue to deliver infrastructure solutions that improve safety, mobility, and quality of life for the communities we serve.
As we continue to support transportation agencies across Illinois and beyond, we remain focused on delivering innovative, cost-effective solutions that help our clients meet today’s infrastructure challenges while preparing for tomorrow’s opportunities.
This recognition reinforces Ardmore Roderick’s commitment to reimagining infrastructure through technical excellence, responsive service, and collaborative partnerships that create lasting value for our clients and the communities they serve.
Congratulations to Shawn Brodaski and the entire project team on this outstanding achievement!
