Red Line Extension Program Management

AR General Hero Banner Rail & Transit

Project Details

Expert program management helps the Chicago Transit Authority add more than five miles to its busiest line.

Ardmore Roderick provides Program Management services for the Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) Red Line Extension Program as part of its Red Ahead Program. This project extends the CTA’s Red Line from the existing 95th/Dan Ryan terminal to 130th Street, totaling 5.3 miles and adding four new stations with Park & Ride and bus connections. The extension features a combination of elevated structures and at-grade segments, with improvements starting in the I-94 median and continuing over I-95 and I-57.

The project requires coordination with multiple third parties, including six railroads, six utilities, and over a dozen city, state, county, and regulatory agencies. Ardmore Roderick’s oversight of the Preliminary Engineering Consultant involves reviewing studies on vertical and horizontal alignment, sub and superstructure systems, drainage, station types and locations, and connectivity through tunnels or bridges. These studies are evaluated for constructability, cost, risk, schedule, and community impact, with value engineering options developed to ensure schedule and cost certainty.

Ardmore Roderick also leads structural and civil design, utility coordination, contract management, and community outreach, ensuring the successful delivery of this critical infrastructure project. Ardmore Roderick remains committed to the successful delivery of this vital infrastructure, ensuring that every aspect of the project—from technical precision to community engagement—reflects our values and our dedication to the communities we serve.
