Wacker Drive South Viaduct Reconstruction – Monroe Street to Van Buren Street

Modernizing Wacker Drive viaducts ensures a safer, more efficient roadway in downtown Chicago.

As part of the construction management team, Ardmore Roderick delivered comprehensive construction inspection and documentation services for the Chicago Department of Transportation. This included overseeing the removal and reconstruction of the viaduct structure, including grade beams and columns, as well as the installation of sheet pile and tie-back systems, micro-pile and caisson foundations. The inspection also covered the post-tensioned bridge deck and latex concrete overlay, along with HVAC and electrical upgrades to the trolley tunnel, ventilation rooms, city electrical rooms, radio room, and bascule bridge rooms.
