Construction included the reconstruction and widening of I-80 to provide three lanes of traffic in each direction, as well as ramp realignment and new lane configurations along US 30 through the I-80 interchange.

The project also made improvements to bicycle paths, traffic signalization, lighting and drainage systems. I-80 over US 30 and the Metra Railroad was widened, re-decked and partially replaced with new abutments, concrete slab bridge, approach and connector pavements.

Ardmore Roderick served in the Construction Inspector role as a subconsultant to TranSystems for this project working closely with the Construction Project Manager. Daily duties included overseeing the placement of reinforced concrete pavement, including concrete shoulders for an approximately two-mile section of the expressway. In addition, the Construction Inspector oversaw the placement of a concrete barrier, storm sewer removal, and pipe underdrain replacement.
