Ardmore Roderick’s program management expertise helps the Chicago Department of Water Management field hundreds of requests every month.

The City of Chicago Department of Water Management operates one of the largest water systems in the country. To ensure reliability, it implements a robust water main replacement program. Ardmore Roderick is a key member of the program management services team, overseeing the Force Account Group. This service-focused group is responsible for many of the department’s most public interactions with public and private stakeholders and fields between 400 – 800 departmental requests every month related to Design Engineering and Permitting, Construction Management, Close-Out, and Records. Requests include Chicago Department of Transportation Office of Underground Coordination submittals, conflicts from other utilities infringing on separation requirements, relocating hydrants, valve operations, or alteration or additions to the distribution system.

Through our role in this vital program, Ardmore Roderick continues to support the advancement of Chicago’s water infrastructure, ensuring that the city remains resilient and prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow. As the Design PMO, Ardmore Roderick oversees the Force Account Group to assign, track, monitor, and streamline Office of Underground Coordination submissions and reviews; holds the Force Account Group accountable; and manages the Force Account construction engineer team protecting the department’s water infrastructure. Resident field engineers oversee construction of new infrastructure, while GIS and CADD support staff generate drawings and basemaps needed to address issues and communicate requirements to other agencies. Through our role in this vital program, Ardmore Roderick continues to support the advancement of Chicago’s water infrastructure, ensuring that the city remains resilient and prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
