Chicago Midway Airport Passenger Security Checkpoint Expansion
Project Details
Enhancing the passenger flow at Chicago’s Midway Airport, a new security checkpoint now processes twice as many passengers per hour.
Ardmore Roderick plays a crucial role in the Connect Chicago Alliance joint venture, leading all ongoing and new work at Midway Airport as part of the O’Hare 21 Terminal Area Plan Program. Projects include expanding the security bridge over Cicero Avenue and the short-term parking garage over the existing train yard for the Chicago Transit Authority.
Midway’s new 80,000 SF checkpoint doubles the speed of passengers moving through security. Built over six lanes of active street traffic and seven lanes of airport roadway, the checkpoint expansion was completed on schedule through design-bid-build delivery. This project is a clear embodiment of the company’s mission to advance the design and construction of the built environment and improves the experience for the traveling public for the long term.
