This project encompasses the widening and reconstruction of the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) and the construction of the Tri-State Tollway/Elgin O’Hare Western Access (EOWA) (I-490) interchange. The Tri-State Tollway limits extend from the North Avenue/Lake Street interchange to Wolf Road and the EOWA limits extend from the Tri-State Tollway interchange through toll plaza(s) 302. The net 3.42 mile project area includes retaining walls and bridge reconstruction along with widening the I-294 expressway to provide for five lanes in each direction.

As a subconsultant to Benesch, Ardmore Roderick professionals provided survey, civil engineering, lighting, and structural support services. Civil engineering tasks included assisting with maintenance of traffic, erosion control, roadway, watermain relocation design, signing, and removal plans, quantities and schedules. For the lighting design, staff were mentored in the use of AGI32 to analyze the design of lighting along the Tri-State. Ardmore Roderick prepared the final bridge plans for the proposed single span replacement structure carrying the Southbound Tri-State exit ramp to Westbound I-290 (Ramp F) over the Westbound I-290 exit ramp to North Ave/Lake Street (Ramp S).
